DINNER, GALA MAKEUP TIPS 2010

When it comes to big events whether it is a dinner or a gala, you want to look your best. You may have the dress and the shoes all planned out, but without the right makeup you may just fade into the background. If you are planning on a big night out then there are three key things to consider when it comes to your makeup.

Lipstick

When choosing a lipstick you want something that is going to complement your outfit and your complexion. For lighter skin tones, shades of pink and berry are great, for olive skin tones the beiges and bronzes are good, and for darker skin tones red and mauves are best. If your outfit is simple then you can get a striking lipstick with a sheer or glossy finish, and if your outfit is busy, then consider a softer tone and a matte or glossy finish. Because you will be eating, drinking and socializing, ensure you invest in long lasting lipstick.

Blush

Blush is a must have in every girl’s makeup bag. It is one of the most underrated products but it can make a tremendous difference and add youth and vitality to your face, and accentuate your beautiful features. When applying blush, make sure you are using a dry brush so that it has a natural appearance. You may also want to use stains, which involves you simply putting a dot on your cheek and expanding it outwards in a circular motion.

Eyeliner & Shadow

Eyeliner is a must for any event. For a sultry look black is best, and for a pretty look white is good. You may want to play around with colors based on your eye color and outfit. Eye shadow will also depend on this, and as with lipstick, try to create a balance with what you are wearing.
