EYE SHADOW TIP FOR WOMEN OF COLOR

EYE SHADOW TIP FOR WOMEN OF COLOR

As women of color, it can be hard to find eye shadows that work well with your skin tone as well as applying it correctly so that it looks tasteful and still natural. The truth is, however, that applying eye shadow as women of color can be much more fun and versatile than it can for Caucasian women. The right know-how and a little creativity can go a long way.

First, find out what colors look best on your skin tone. Very dark African Americans can work with just about any color under the sun and make it look good, for example. Oriental women from all nations can always do well with raisin or plum colors, as well as literally all blacks and browns. Native American skin works well with golds, silvers, and metallic hues.

After choosing a color, playing around and experimenting with your eye shadow can be one of the most rewarding experiences available to women of color in their eye makeup. Colors like vibrant bold blue and yellow that only a select few Caucasian women can pull off look fantastic on black women, while dark browns that would clash against fairer skin look great on Asian women. Try doing it – buy a few very good eye shadow brushes and several colors you think may work well with your eyes and skin tone, and just spend a while with a friend applying, removing and reapplying until you see what does and doesn’t work for you. We’re all different, but the fun we have applying and working our makeup doesn’t have to be.

A TWO-TONE SPLENDOR

Catherine Zeta-Jones

TWO-TONE SPLENDOR

If you are tired of applying the same, old solid eye shadow color, you may want to consider shaking things up with two-tones eye shadows! In most cases, you can buy these shadows in pairs with one another. There are also multi colored pallets available so you can create various two-toned color applications on a regular basis. With two-toned eye shadow colors, you can create looks which are perfect for the workplace or for the nightclub. Additionally, you can play with tones colors as a way to express your moods.

When using two-tone colors, you can select from a variety of choices. You can go from bold colors to neutral and earthy colors. Essentially, you can apply almost any eye shadow design using multiple tones. Two-toned colors are the perfect means of making the design of your eye shadow more appealing and interesting.

Before applying the eye shadow, it is always wise to apply a foundation or a base to the eyelids. This will help give the eye shadow a natural look when it is applied. Additionally, when using two-tones, you will want to apply the lighter tone first and the darker tone second. This will allow the colors to run together more smoothly and effectively. After applying the dark color, you can always come back and add a light more light shadow if you want to blend the two colors together more successfully. You will want to make adjustments after applying your eye makeup. The most important thing to look for is that the two eyes are symmetrical.

EVERYDAY MAKEUP TIPS

EVERYDAY MAKEUP TIPS

Most of us wear make-up on a daily basis. Where we wear it at work, to a party, or at the supermarket, there are different styles which suit specific occasions. There are also a myriad of ways to apply different types of makeup. The following suggestions are included as a means of helping to improve your everyday make-up applying regiment:

1. It is important to use Chap Stick or moisturizing lip serum before applying lipstick. We’ve all had the horrible experience of having dry lips underneath a coat of lipstick. Before you know it, you’re out in public with lipstick that is cracked and peeling along with the skin on your lips. This is unsightly can be extremely uncomfortable. Most lipsticks and lip liners will dry your lips out a bit, so be sure to keep those kissers hydrated!

2. Apply powder or foundation to your eyelids before applying your eye makeup. This will help create a strong base for your eye makeup to hold onto. Additionally, it will make your eye makeup appear more natural as well as help it blend into the foundation makeup surrounding it.

3. Keep your eyebrows in shape. It’s best to get a magnified mirror so that you can catch those little stray hairs that you won’t normally see at first glance. If you’re going to take the time to apply eye make-up, then you certainly shouldn’t ruin it with un-groomed eyebrows. Besides, you never know who might get close to, so you’ll want to be prepared for anything that comes along.

MAKEUP TIPS FOR SUMMER

Erin Fetherston Summer Makeup Style

MAKEUP TIPS FOR SUMMER

When summer comes along, you will want to use make-up which will accentuate your summer look. Also, with summer also come heat, sun, and sweat. Therefore, it’s important to find the right makeup which will allow you to maintain your look in the harshest of conditions. Plus, the make-up gets major bonus points when it can protect and moisturize your skin!

In the summer, it’s important to moisturize your skin. There are many SPF moisturizers out there which can keep your skin hydrated, as well as protect it from drying out and burning under the sun. Additionally, many foundation make-ups also contain SPF, which is very useful during the summer months.

Summer is a great time to experiment with sassy and exotic colors. You can use bright shades of pink, blue, and yellow, which will help you to appear fun and vibrant! Additionally, summer is the best time of year to add a little shimmer to your look. You can apply shimmer to any part of your body, but it is often most favorable to apply it over your eye-makeup. Summer is the perfect time to get creative with your make-up choices. The sky is the limit, and you can do anything as long as you keep your skin tone in mind when making color decisions.
Lastly, if you really want to get ready for summer, treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. This way, you can color coordinate your eye and lip colors to match your fantastically vivacious nails and toes!
