In 1909, Gabrielle Chanel made a venture by opening a shop in Balsan’s apartment in Paris. This was the spark to the beginning of what was to go on to become a giant in the world of fashion in the later years! Chanel also specializes in Perfumes. Parfums Chanel , founded in 1924, by Pierre Wertheimer went on to become yet another success for the fashion house. The Chanel Watches also deserve a worthy mention here. The first Chanel watch to be rolled out was the ‘Premiere’ , designed by Jacques Helleu.
Audrey Tautou
The first one of the Chanel J12 series was launched in 2000. These watches have found a market and they too seem to be contributing to the company’s scintillating success story. The Chanel advertisements too have had a gripping impact on the audience. Chanel’s advertisement which starred Nicole Kidman went on to become a very famous one. The commercial was directed by the renowned Baz Luhrmann, of the Moulin Rouge fame. The commercial had Kidman play a very famous woman in the world, while another model, Rodrigo Santoro, played a struggling writer who fell in love with Kidman. The No.5 Film as it was called, cost a total of $46 million, making it one of the most expensive advertisements in history. Other famous Hollywood stars who have been associated with the brand are Keira Knightley and Audrey Tautou who have also starred in Chanel commercials.
